2026 local elections – Who’s standing for Hounslow Council in Chiswick

Time to assess the runners and riders

The local elections are in a month’s time – Thursday 7 May. The main parties have been campaigning for some time, so you may already have had a bright eyed posse of enthusiasts knocking on your door, keen to tell you their policies.

Chiswick is split between the London Borough of Hounslow and the Borough of Ealing. As most of Chiswick is in Houslow, this page is about the three wards represented by councillors on Hounslow Council. Bedford Park, in LB Ealing, will have a separate page, coming soon.

Would-be candidates have until this Thursday (9 April) to get their applications in if they want to stand, but we now know who most of them will be. In Chiswick the Labour Party, Conservatives, Lib Dems and Greens are represented in every ward.

They include two people who have recently swapped party: Aubrey Crawley and Vickram Grewal, one former Labour Cabinet member on Hounslow Council: Hanif Khan, and several who are standing for election for the first time.

All the councillors who won seats in 2022 are standing again, except for John Todd and Gerald Macgregor, who are retiring.

This time around, Reform are considered to be a serious threat to Labour in the west of the borough, and could whittle Labour’s majority down to the point we may be looking at a split council.

Chiswick Gunnersbury ward is the area north of the A4 up to the border with the borough of Ealing, from Chiswick Lane in the east as far as Gunnersbury Park in the west. It includes most of Chiswick High Road and the centre of Chiswick, Turnham Green.
