A Banksy appears beside Kew Bridge

Thank you Banksy!

A Banksy has appeared on the side of a building beside the southern (ie. Richmond) end of Kew Bridge. He has left it untitled, open for interpretation by those who see it.

According to one interpretaion of the work on his Instagram account, from Leesa Iverson:

“Humans are the unresponsive camera watching as all of nature is in peril. There is no where else for life (nature) to go. We did this. And yet we have removed ourselves from being present and responsible or empathetic.”

Someone else just wrote “super cute”.

Banksy confirmed the work was his on his Instagram account and so far it has received rave reviews from locals.

Sandra from Chiswick told us:

“It looks great! So cool! He always does something with a meaning. We might understand it with time. Something’s always planned.”

Tori, aged nine, said:

“It’s a goat on the edge of a rocky hill.”

Antonia, also from Chiswick, told us:

“I just saw it on ITV news and I only live across the bridge, so I thought I’d come down, and I think it’s amazing. It’s a pretty sad looking wall and tha’s just made it look really cool and funky. And it’s an unnamed artist, but we wonder who that is!

“It’s a good spot isn’t it, in summer there’s a lot of things going on around this area, like Kew Gardens concerts, so everyone’s going to see it. I like the fact that the stones are falling off, so he’s balancing up a 3,000 foot cliff or something like that.

“I saw the crowd when I was coming over the bridge and I thought ‘Oh everyone knows about it already’, and there’s probably going to more isn’t there in the next few days.

“It might be something that we’re going to see appearing on different walls around the city.”
