Local resident and accomplished writer Keith T. Richards is celebrating the release of his debut novel, Which Of Your Sons, with a launch event at The George IV on Sunday 23 March. Keith, who has lived in Chiswick for many years, brings a wealth of experience and perspective to his writing, drawing on his extensive career in Africa and his deep engagement with the community.

Keith’s background spans over 30 years of leadership in developing markets across Africa, including prominent roles with companies like Guinness Nigeria and Promasidor Nigeria. His personal and professional journey has earned him several chieftaincy titles and recognition, including an OBE in the 2010 Queen’s Birthday Honours List. Which Of Your Sons marks his first novel, following the success of his acclaimed memoir, Never Quite The Insider.

The evening will feature live Afro-Funk music from The Lagos Afro-Funk Collective, and a discussion with Rhianna Dhillon, film and TV critic, and Ed Emeka Keazor, historian and lawyer.  They’ll explore the novel’s powerful themes, including the significance of Nigeria’s colonial past and the impact of family legacies on identity.

In Which Of Your Sons, Terry, a racist ex-soldier, and Robert, a Black Briton from Chiswick, find themselves in Lagos, Nigeria, where their stories become intertwined with the fate of the Ede family and a curse dating back to the 1949 IVA Valley Massacre. The novel delves into love, identity, and the complexities of heritage.

The event will be held in the Boston Room at The George IV, starting at 5:30 pm. Tickets are £15 and include a signed copy of the book, drinks, and canapés. For those unable to attend, the book is available on Amazon, or can be ordered at The Beehive Café and Bookcase in Chiswick.
