Askew Road closed due to stabbing

Person killed in stabbing and two others in Hospital following stabbing on Askew Road

Police have closed Askew Road on the border of Chiswick and Shepherd’s Bush this morning after being called to reports of a stabbing at 8:22am. Paramedics were sent to the scene and London’s air ambulance was also dispatched, with ambulance crews arriving in less than 5 minutes.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said “We treated three people in total. We took two patients to hospital but sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a patient was pronounced dead at the scene”.

In a nearby Sainsbury’s local people say that young children fled the flat where a woman was stabbed. Reportedly, they were taken in by a cafe owner nearby to keep them safe. Local residents told The Chiswick Calendar they believe a machete knife was used as a weapon.

Drivers aren’t allowed to enter the cordoned off area and are being told by police to drive around it. The cordoned off area begins at Davisville road and includes Haydn Park Road.

A local shop owner told The Chiswick Calendar that “the street is always busy” at that time in the morning, especially around the Gail’s and cafes in the area where there is now a heavy police presence.

Residents who had come out to see the cordoned off area and had heard police cars this morning were shocked. A resident told us the area is “a lovely place to live” with another saying that they usually “feel safe in the area”.
