The resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, wanted to provide the perspective of the “majority” of residents.
She said: “The vast majority of local residents are delighted that there will be a ban on commercial dog walkers in Stamford Brook Common.”
“For many years, Stamford Brook has been used as the preferred choice for commercial dog walkers. It has become known as ‘poo park’ and local residents no longer use the park for what it was intended- a green space for residents to relax and enjoy.”
“This is exactly why they have had to campaign to insist that the commercial dog walkers leave and make their nearest green space available again for local families and residents for recreational use and general wellbeing. There are other more suitable places to take large numbers of dogs for exercise.”

The Chiswick Calendar spoke to one commercial dog walker on the Common who said the ban was another example of “NIMBYism”.
“Some people like us because we keep an eye on the park all year round.
“They say sometimes that we’re responsible for not picking up poo—I would say we are far more conscious of it and pick up other dogs’ poo, and it is people walking around on their phones not paying attention to their dog who are not”, said the commercial walker, who also wished to remain anonymous”.
The ban on commercial dog walkers will come into effect in Stamford Brook Common in September.
