Bedford Park Festival Photography Competition – How to Enter & Rules 2023

View the 2023 online exhibition here: chiswickcalendar.co.uk/bedford-park-festival/photography/year-2023/

The Bedford Park Festival 2023 photography competition and exhibition will take place both online and as a physical exhibition in the St Michael & All Angels Church parish hall. You will be able to see all the photographs on The Chiswick Calendar website from 7pm Friday 9 June, when they will also go on show in the parish hall. For more information about the in-person exhibition please visit bedfordparkfestival.org

The public chooses a winner in each category and then a professional photographer will choose an overall winner. Vote for your favourite in each category either online, on The Chiswick Calendar website, or in person at the exhibition at St Michael & All Angels parish hall.

Entries cost £4 for one photograph, £8 for two, £10 for three and £2 for each additional entry beyond that. Snappy Snaps Chiswick will print out photos for the competition at half their usual price and offer mounting at a 25% discount.

Your photographs will be reproduced on The Chiswick Calendar with a line of text saying that the photographer owns the copyright, but in any case they will be reproduced at too low a resolution for them to be downloaded and printed with any degree of quality. By entering the competition you are agreeing for your photographs to be shown on the website.

The photography competition is a brilliant community event, open to everyone, of all ages, but most importantly it raises money for St Michael & All Angels and its chosen charities.

All the photographs will remain on the website for all to see, beyond the date of the exhibition in the parish hall, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 June.

How to enter

To enter the competition, please click on the entry form, fill it out, upload your photographs and make the payment. You will be asked for:

• Name
• Address (including post code – not for publication)
• Telephone number (not for publication)
• Email address (not for publication)
• Number of photographs you’re submitting for entry
• Which category each photographs are entered in
• Digital copies of the photographs you are entering.

Photograph sizes – online

At least 250kb for use online. We are happy to resize larger images to make them suitable for the website.

Photograph delivery for the physical exhibition

Please print out your photographs, mount them on cardboard and deliver them to John Little whose address and contact information will be provided when completing the entry form below, between 5 – 6 June.

The cardboard should not be overly thick in order to avoid the picture being too heavy to display. We also do not accept framed photos or any on heavy mounts as they would not stick to the display boards. Please also add your name, contact number and the category of the photo on the back of the cardboard on which your photos will be mounted.

The size of the physical picture is usually around A4 or slightly larger and the purpose of the card is to allow a solid surface to allow us to mount your work to a wall with Blu Tack. Click here for an example.

Prizes

The winners will receive vouchers from Snappy Snaps Chiswick for printing and framing. Category winners will receive Snappy Snaps print and framing vouchers to the value of £50. Overall winner will receive a custom framing voucher valued at £250.

John Fitzgerald, owner of Snappy Snaps Chiswick, says:

“We are delighted to support the Bedford Park Photographic Competition again this year with prizes. Snappy Snaps remain proud sponsors of this event since its inception many years ago and we would like to wish all entrants the best of luck”.
