Bedford Park Festival Photography Competition – How to Enter & Rules for 2024

The Bedford Park Festival 2024 photography competition and exhibition will take place in St Michael & All Angels Church this year. Entries close Thursday 30 May 5pm.

In previous years the photographs have been shown in the Parish Hall upstairs for the opening weekend of the festival only, but this year they will be in the main church alongside the paintings in the Summer Exhibition and will be on display for a week, so you will have more time to go and see them in person.

We will also show all the entries here on The Chiswick Calendar website, so the public can vote for which photograph they want to win in each category. The voting will be entirely online – no filling out voting slips and posting them in cardboard boxes any more. Voting will be available when the exhibition opens. The overall winner will be judged by a professional photographer.

The first chance to see the physical exhibition of all the photography entries will be at the Exhibitions Preview Party on Friday 7 June, 6.45pm – 9.30pm. The exhibition will be on display from Saturday 8 until Friday 14 June, and open between 12 Noon and 6pm. The winners will be announced on Friday 14 June at 2pm.

Take part in the competition

Entries cost £4 for one photograph, £8 for two, £10 for three and £2 for each additional entry beyond that. Snappy Snaps Chiswick will print out photos for the competition at half their usual price and offer mounting at a 25% discount.

Your photographs will be reproduced on The Chiswick Calendar with a line of text saying that the photographer owns the copyright, but in any case they will be reproduced at too low a resolution for them to be downloaded and printed with any degree of quality. By entering the competition you are agreeing for your photographs to be shown on the website.

The photography competition is a brilliant community event, open to everyone, of all ages, but most importantly it raises money for St Michael & All Angels and its chosen charities.

All the photographs will remain on the website for all to see, beyond the date of the exhibition in the church, Saturday 8 to Friday 14 June.

• Email address (not for publication)
• Number of photographs you’re submitting for entry
• Which category each photographs are entered in

Photograph sizes – online

At least 250kb for use online. We are happy to resize larger images to make them suitable for the website.

Photograph delivery for the physical exhibition

Please print out your photographs, mount them on cardboard and deliver them to John Little whose address and contact information will be provided when completing the entry form below. Physical mounted copies are to be delivered to John between Saturday 25 May and Saturday 1 June.

The cardboard should not be overly thick in order to avoid the picture being too heavy to display. We also do not accept framed photos or any on heavy mounts as they would not stick to the display boards. Please also add your name, contact number and the category of the photo on the back of the cardboard on which your photos will be mounted.

The size of the physical picture is usually around A4 or slightly larger and the purpose of the card is to allow a solid surface to allow us to mount your work to a wall with Blu Tack. Click here to see how the photographs will be hung. The maximum size for a single mounted photo is 12″ x 16″, including the cardboard backing.

Prizes

The winners will receive vouchers from Snappy Snaps Chiswick for printing and framing. Category winners will receive Snappy Snaps print and framing vouchers to the value of £50. Overall winner will receive a custom framing voucher valued at £250.

John Fitzgerald, owner of Snappy Snaps Chiswick, says:

“We are delighted to support the Bedford Park Photographic Competition again this year with prizes. Snappy Snaps remain proud sponsors of this event since its inception many years ago and we would like to wish all entrants the best of luck”.
