Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre swimming pools closed for maintenance

Pools closed until at least 4 August

The swimming pools at Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre will be closed until at least Monday 4 August, while essential maintenance work takes place.

All other facilities including the gym, will remain open as usual.

Whilst the pool is closed, Brentford Fountain members will be able to swim at any other Lampton Leisure centre, including Hanworth, Isleworth, Heston, and New Chiswick Pool.

In a statement on its website, the leisure centre management state:

‘You may already be aware that the swimming pools and poolside area at Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre are currently closed.

‘Following one of our routine inspections, maintenance work was identified that needed to be carried out immediately.

‘Like you, we are disappointed by this news. We know how important the pools are to our members, local families and the wider Brentford community. That is why we are working closely with Hounslow Council and our contractors to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.

‘At this stage, the pools will remain closed until 4 August. We will provide a further update as soon as we have further information.”

Hounslow Council has approved plans to redevelop Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre, saying the site is no longer fit for purpose.

In a Cabinet report last October, officers said:

‘Built in 1987, and at 37 years old, Fountain LC. It requires significant investment or replacement to satisfy the modern fitness requirements and lifestyle expectations of the local community, to provide good quality facilities, and secure long-term viability’.
