Burlington Lane closed 9 February – 6 March

Work will be carried out in February and March to make the No Entry barrier stopping traffic turning off the A316 into Burlington Lane between Chiswick House and Chiswick School into a permanent fixture.

The existing barriers will be replaced with a new traffic island, and the junction will be ‘reprofiled’, with footways widened. The arrangement will still allow all vehicles to exit on the A316, while maintaining the existing No Entry (except cycles) arrangement from the A316.

The works are due to start on Monday 9 February, and are expected to last for up to six weeks. Hounslow Council has sent out a notice to residents saying access to properties will be maintained throughout, but Burlington Lane will be closed at its junction with the A316 whilst the permanent arrangement is constructed.

This means there will be no vehicular access from Burlington Lane to the A316 for the duration of the works.

A diversion via Staveley Roadwill be in place, with the timed motor vehicle restriction in that road suspended to maintain access to the A316.

The closure is due to start at 9.30am on Monday 9 February 2026. While the legal order can remain in force for up to eighteen months to allow for unexpected delays or remedial works, Hounslow Council says the works are expected to be completed by 3pm on Friday 6 March 2026.

The Council notes there may be changes to the start and end dates of works depending on weather conditions, but promises to communicate changes to residents as much as possible if they occur.
