Burst water pipe in Acton Lane cases water pressure problems in W4, W3 and W12

Thames Water engineers work overnight to try and fix the water supply in time for the morning rush

A burst water main in Acton Lane is causing water pressure problems in W3, W4 and W12 and flooding on the road. Engineers have worked through the night to excavate and carry out the repair.

Thames Water has apolgised to customers who have experienced issues with their water supply. The problem started early evening on Tuesday 14 July.

They wrote in their incident log not long after midnight:

‘Our teams are on site dealing with a large burst pipe on Acton Lane, working to fix things.

‘Our customer representatives and customer support teams are on site assisting those who have been affected’.

They have isolated the broken pipe, and have rerouted water around the area – ‘meaning all should now have their water supply back’.

Customers may continue to experience low pressure or no water for a short time while the network fully recovers. The supply should return to normal as this happens.

‘If you live in a block of flats, you may need to contact your managing agent to come out and reset your internal pumps if you’re still experiencing issues with your supply.

‘Often when your water returns it may be discoloured at first (rusty, white or milky in colour), this is normal – for further guidance on what to do when you experience this and other issues following an incident, please see our After An Incident Guide’.

They are sorry about the disruption this has caused, they say, ‘and we will provide another update by 08:30.

‘Thank you for your patience, and apologies to anyone affected’.

Update 12.45 Wednesday

Acton Lane remains closed as a Thames Water team carry out excavation of the damaged water main to prepare for its repair.

‘We’ve kept water flowing to customers by rerouting supplies through the local network, and all customers should continue to have water. However, you may still notice lower water pressure during periods of high demand while repairs are underway’.
