The £35.25 million spent is about eight times the annual earnings of the ten pubs

A popular local watering hole, The Blue Anchor, is amongst four freehold and six leasehold pubs that Fuller, Smith & Turner (Fuller’s) has acquired in a two-part deal with the Stonegate Group and an institutional property investment company.

Fuller’s has always been interested in the riverside area in and around Hammersmith and owns The Dove, the Blue Boat and the Cross Keys in its collection of 400 pubs and hotels. With its river views and popular location, The Blue Anchor will be a valuable addition to the group.

Of the ten acquisitions, nine of them are in London and the tenth is in the centre of Bath where Fuller’s owns other premium hospitality businesses.

The right assets at the right price

Fuller’s executive chairman Simon Emeny said: “I am delighted to be announcing this transaction today. We have always maintained a disciplined policy of only acquiring the right assets at the right price – and they must always be estate enhancing. This transaction certainly meets these criteria, and I’m delighted to welcome well known gems like the Shipwrights Arms in London Bridge, the Duchess next to Selfridges, and the Blue Anchor in Hammersmith to the Fuller’s family.

“This collection of ten outstanding pubs, located in geographies where we already have a strong presence and knowledge of the customer, are a perfect complement to our existing estate.”

In recent annual results, the company’s total revenue rose 5.7% to £397.8m, up from £376.3m the previous year, while adjusted pre-tax profit increased from £27m in 2025.

Emeny said that the acquisition of the new pubs “will provide additional momentum to the strong earnings growth being delivered by our core business”.

The purchase of the freehold pubs is due to complete this month whilst the takeover of the leasehold pubs will be completed upon negotiation with the landlords as they are subject to their consent.

The acquisitions are to be funded through Fuller’s existing debt facilities.
