Chiswick Book Festival pays tribute to Edward Stourton after broadcaster’s death

The Chiswick Book Festival has paid tribute to Edward Stourton, the broadcaster and author who was due to speak at the festival in September, following his death

‘We are very sad to hear of the death of Edward Stourton, who was due to speak at the Chiswick Book Festival in September,’ the festival said in a statement. ‘Ed was as fine a writer as he was a broadcaster and such was his popularity that his Festival session at Hogarth’s House in Chiswick had already sold out.’

BBC colleagues have paid tribute to his many qualities and wide knowledge and expertise, pointing to a piece collecting their reactions on the BBC News website.

Organisers are contacting those who had already bought tickets for the session, and will consider whether to hold a replacement event in due course.

Ed Stourton had been due to appear at Hogarth’s House on Monday 14 September, in conversation with Father Kevin Morris, vicar of St Michael & All Angels Church, to discuss his book Made in America: The Dark History that led to Donald Trump.
