Chiswick GP who worked for more than 40 years fondly remembered

‘A wonderful, much loved doctor who truly cared for her patients’

Dr Ruth Heinsheimer, who worked as a GP in Chiswick for more than 40 years, has died.

Chiswick Health Practice, where she worked, has put a message on their website saying it was ‘with great sadness’ they shared the passing of the popular doctor, who must have treated thousands of patients in Chiswick throughout her career.

‘Many of our long standing patients and colleagues, may remember her as a familiar face of Chiswick Health Practice. For over 41 years, she helped and supported patients and people of Chiswick.She will be fondly remembered by many as a GP, friend and colleague’.

One of her former patients, commenting on social media, described her as:

‘Such a wonderful, much loved doctor who truly cared for her patients, listened and always went the extra mile’.

Ruth retired in September 2011, when she said:

“It has been a pleasure and a privilege to provide continuity of care in in this Community throughout my career”.

She worked initially as a GP with her father at his practice in Wellesley Road in Chiswick, and theirs was one of the first practices to move, in 1978, into what was then the new Chiswick Health Centre in Fishers Lane.

The family had immigrated from Israel when Ruth was just two years old. She went to school at Haberdashers’ Aske’s School in Ealing  and qualified for medicine at Birmingham Medical School.

Her funeral will be on Tuesday 19 August.
