Classes, a competition and cakes

The Chiswick Horticultural & Allotments Society’s Summer Show takes place later this month, at the society’s trading centre on Staveley Road.

Doors will open for entries into their annual competition on Sunday 26 June at 9.30am until 11.45am (membership of the society isn’t required to enter the competition). Judging will start from noon until 2.00pm, when the show reopens to the public and prizes will be presented at 3.45pm.

There are 67 classes for growers, photographers, poets, preservers, bakers and children’s entries ranging from decorating a wooden spoon to building a bug box. Admission is free and it’s 25p per class entry.

Trophies and prizes will be awarded for classes and anyone can enter as many categories as they wish.

Food  including home-made cakes, a marinade BBQ and refreshments by Skye and Jane.

The guest presenter of the awards this year will be the writer, actress and comedian Ingrid Oliver and renowned horticulturalist Jim Buttress will be one of the show’s judges.
