Chiswick Police update – car theft, shoplifting and several arrests
Chiswick police arrest prolific shoplifter and man wanted for arson
A man arrested in Chiswick last month for sexual assault and outraging public decency has been charged and remanded to prison.
A prolific female shoplifter who was wanted on recall to prison was spotted, arrested and returned to prison.
Chiswick police have also arrested a man who was wanted for arson in another part of London. PCSO Andrade spotted him on the High Road and gave chase, guiding in units to arrest him.
Sgt Gareth O’Donnell commented that this man had caused “significant concerns” to residents over the years:
“I am hopeful that we will not be seeing him for a considerable time”.
In their most recent communication with the public through ‘Met Engage’, he said Chiswick police had also been carrying out plain clothes patrols to try and catch car thieves and they had been talking to shopkeepers about thefts from their premises.
As a result, while they were out on patrol they responded to a call about a male breaking into a vehicle, detained him and arrested him for ‘Criminal damage to motor vehicle’, ‘Going equipped to steal’, and a public order offence.
They have also identified three individuals from CCTV involved in high value thefts from shops.
“We will be progressing cases against all of them and looking to get Criminal Behaviour Orders to deter their offending”, said Sgt O’Donnell.
They have also evicted a squatter from Peabody housing in Riverside ward and returned the property to the housing association.
Another branch of the Met, which deals with Anti-Social Behaviour specifically, has also been successful in getting a Criminal Behaviour Order against a prolific shoplifter and anti-social behaviour offender, banning him from being in Chiswick High Road and Turnham Green Terrace.
