Chiswick Post Office closed ‘for maintenance’

People turning up with parcels to post at Chiswick’s Post Office on Heathfield Terrace were confused to find the shop was open, but the Post Office Counter was closed on Saturday (3 May), and a notice on the door just saying it was closed ‘until further notice’ by way of explanation.
The nearest Post Offices are in Barnes and Acton.
There have been moves to close the Post Office in Chiswick.
In 2018 Ruth Cadbury MP and Labour Party members handed in a petition of more than 400 signatures to Royal Mail’s Blackfriars HQ against the relocation of the Sorting and Parcel office and closure was averted, so speculation immediately started on social media about why the Post Office was closed this time.
The one member of staff in the shop told The Chiswick Calendar it was closed for ‘maintenance’ and would be open again on Wednesday (7 May).
