Chiswick Rugby Club is to host the first ever Tyrwhitt Cup – ‘a one-off evening rugby match open to the public, celebrating grassroots sport and community’.

The fixture, on Friday 20 February, sees Chiswick RFC, coached by Bristol Bears player Max Lahiff, and LooseHeadz, coached by former England player Matt Dawson, take on rugby charity   as part of Charles Tyrwhitt’s ongoing partnership with England Rugby and support of grassroots clubs.

The game will celebrate the 2026 Guinness Men’s Six Nations and the importance of rugby and team sports, especially at a grassroots level. That weekend England are due to play Ireland and Wales will play Scotland on the Saturday, and France will play Italy on the Sunday.

Being a member of a rugby club is good for your mental health says rugby’s mental health charity

LooseHeadz is rugby’s mental health charity which offers training courses about mental heatlh issues and funds initiatives that help players at every level of the game. A LooseHeadz study carried out in 2025, showed that 92% of their partner clubs and following believe that rugby helps their mental health.

The study showed that not only does being a member of a rugby club give players the chance to engage in physical activity & improve fitness, it also provides a social environment, support networks and the chance to be outdoors.

Matt Dawson is a brand ambassador for Charles Tyrwhitt (pronounced “Tirrit”), the menswear brand owned by Nick Wheeler OBE, (Charles and Tyrwhitt are his middle names), who is a big sports fan.

Cricketers Joe Root and Stuart Broad are also among the brand’s ambassadors and Charles Tyrwhitt partners with Fulham FC as well as England Rugby, producing a range of shirts and jumpers with England’s red rose emblem on them. This is the sixth year Charles Tyrwhitt has partnered with England Rugby.

The company also supports The Kings Trust, founded by King Charles III to tackle the global crisis of youth unemployment.
