Chiswick School celebrates excellent A-Level results

40% Sixth form students secure place at Russell Group universities

Chiswick School has reported outstanding A-Level results this year, with over 40% of the cohort securing places at prestigious Russell Group universities, and Oxbridge.

A significant number of students will be studying Medicine, reflecting the school’s broad academic success despite the challenges posed to this generation of students by the pandemic.

Beyond traditional subjects, students have excelled in modern disciplines such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Comic & Concept Art.

History stood out as a particularly strong subject, with 40% of students achieving A* or A grades, followed by 34% of Maths students attaining the top grades.

The school’s overall academic performance was impressive, with 25% of all grades being A or above and 85% of grades at A*-C, significantly exceeding the national average.

Headteacher Laura Ellener said:

“These brilliant results are a testament to the hard work our students have put in over the years. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of Chiswick School staff and the support of our pupils’ families.

“We are excited to hear about the students’ next steps and look forward to welcoming them back as part of our alumni network.”

“We are delighted to see another set of excellent results from Chiswick Sixth Form students. It is especially gratifying to see them succeed while also embracing a range of extracurricular activities during their time in the Sixth Form.”

Chiswick School’s Top achievers

Nationally, this year’s A-Level results show a continued increase in top grades. The proportion of A-level entries awarded an A or A* rose to 27.8%, up from 27.2% in 2023, and above the pre-pandemic level of 25.4%.

The number of students receiving the highest A* grade has also increased to 9.3%, the highest since the grade was introduced in 2010.

In total, 243,650 UK students have been accepted into universities or colleges, a 6% increase from last year. Boys have pulled ahead of girls in achieving the top A* grade, with 9.5% of boys earning the distinction compared to 9.1% of girls, reversing the trend seen during the pandemic years.
