Government figures showing the number of Covid cases up to Wednesday 5 January show that in Chiswick the level remains high. That comes as no surprise, as London has declared an emergency and the hospitals are under huge pressure. The latest data from Imperial College NHS Trust (which includes Charing Cross) shows 219 Covid patients had been admitted to their hospitals in the seven day period 28 December – 3 January with the virus.
Covid cases went up nearly 50% in Chiswick between Christmas and New Year. In the seven days before Christmas the number of new cases was 236. In the week between 25 December 2020 and 1 January 2021 the number of new cases rose to 349 – an increase of 47.8%.
The latest figures published take us up to Wednesday 5 January, a total of 302 new cases in the week ending 5 January, compared with 304 in the previous week ending 29 December

Back in August, the map was showing fewer than three cases in each of the six areas into which Chiswick is divided – too low a figure to be recorded on the map.
