Online searches for cream teas and afternoon teas to be delivered have surged since the UK went into lockdown. Pizza sellers and companies such as Nando’s and Five Guys have all been doing well, but orders for online deliveries for Cream Teas and Afternoon Teas skyrocketed in May.
That’s all the incentive wedding cake designer Tom needed. He is now offering Afternoon Tea deliveries to Chiswick and across west London, at weekends only, and he is giving 20% of the proceeds this week to Ealing Food Bank.
“I can’t make any wedding cakes at present. However, afternoon tea is possible in lockdown!” he says.
Traditional afternoon tea for your requested number of people will be put together in a box, which you can collect from W4 1AG or it can be delivered within these postcodes: W3, W4, W5, W6, W12, SW13, SW14, TW8 and TW9, on Saturday or Sunday.
“Please be aware we may sell out, if we aren’t able to accept your order we will let you know as soon as possible” he says.
Note: if the website says they aren’t accepting orders at the moment, that’s probably because they’ve sold out for the coming weekend. They usually put the order form online on Mondays, so best to look then!
Six finger sandwiches with a range of fillings: roast chicken salad, ham and mustard, cheese and homemade tomato chutney, goat’s cheese, pear and walnut, egg and cress; made with a range of homemade breads including cumin bread, white sourdough.
One plain scone and one fruit scone (homemade) per person, clotted cream, jam.
One slice of homemade cake and two sweet treats per person. These will vary and may include: Victoria sandwich, mini carrot cakes, chocolate cake, brownies, fruit tarts, other cakes.
Tea as loose leaf or tea bag, per person, according to your choice.
No crockery, plates, cutlery etc are included. No hot water or milk for tea are included, if you’re planning a picnic you will need a flask of hot water for your tea!
Depending on the number of people the tea is ordered for, everything will either be in one box, or all the cakes, scones, jam and tea in one box, and the sandwiches in a separate box. It’s very easily portable to take on a picnic.
£15 per person
As a thank you to NHS/care workers Tom’s cakes is offering a 20% discount per person (you will need to email us your ID/proof of keyworker status to be eligible, one for each person getting the discount) and 20% of the proceeds for this week, ie £3 per tea, will go to Ealing Foodbank, whose services are much needed currently.
