Where to take advantage of the discount in and around Chiswick

The Government’s support scheme ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ started on Monday 3 August.

You can use the Eat Out to Help Out scheme to get a 50% discount on food or drinks (up to a maximum of £10 discount per diner) and it’s available every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday up until 31 August.

You can use the discount as many times as you like, even on the same day. The discount will be automatically available to you at participating establishments, so you don’t need a voucher to use it.

You can even use it alongside any other offers and discounts, (such as The Chiswick Calendar Club Card – but check first with the individual establishments) and there is no minimum spend.

You can’t claim discount on alcoholic drinks or service charge, nor can you use it for a takeaway.

The Chiswick Calendar has been speaking to a few restaurants who are already taking part in the scheme, to see whether it made any difference to their business on its first day.

Urban Pantry – Devonshire Road

Kate Frobisher is the owner of Urban Pantry, winner of Time Out’s ‘best cafe in Chiswick’ in its first year of opening.

After the first day of trading with ‘Eat Out To Help’, Kate has seen a definite increase in sales.

“Yeah it’s been busy! Not major, but definitely an increase I would say. If I had to guess I’d say anything between 10-20% up” she said.

The changes have forced businesses to implement the extra task of calculating the Eat Out to Help Out discount.

“I just had to make two new buttons on the till – It adds an extra process – but it’s for the gains it’s so worth it”.

High Road Brasserie – Chiswick High Road

Mardon works at High Road Brasserie, they’re usually busy every Monday as they have a special offer for members, he thinks that tomorrow will be busy as they got several enquiries today.

“We had a few enquiries about it, but the thing is we’re busy on Mondays anyway because we offer 50% of to people who are sort of like a ‘member’ of the brasserie so it’s busy anyway” Mardon said.

“But we did get quite a few enquiries regarding if we were doing it [Eat Out to Help Out]. So I think tomorrow and tonight absolutely we will be busy”.

The Italians – Chiswick High Road

The Italians is known as ‘a small community of people passionate about healthy Italian food’.

Gabriel works here, and said that people are still not totally informed about which places are offering a discount and what it actually is.

“There’s no difference, people are still not advised about it. So a lot of people didn’t know yet, they were surprised when we explained to them what the deal was, maybe in a few days it will be better” said Gabriel.
