A man has been charged with the theft of an electric bike from outside the Co-Op by Chiswick Rail Station.

We reported three weeks ago that Kelly Regan had her bike stolen and that as the thief rode off on it two local residents had given chase and tried to stop him, but the electric bike was too fast for them.

Kelly then saw her bike advertised on Gumtree:

‘Yamaha motor Momentum City Bike – Black with Blue Grips, Good Condition – Chiswick, London’

The seller wrote it was:

‘Perfect for getting around town or for leisurely rides. Has mineral oil hydraulic discbrakes and a comfortable seat, ready for its next owner. also comes with top of the range lock and helmet’

but also that: ‘It’s black with bright blue handlebar grips, making it stand out a bit’.

Kelly immediately recognised it as hers and arranged to meet the seller, but they did not show up for the meeting.

Meanwhile the police had examined CCTV from the Co Op. They arrested and charged a man for the theft and he has been bailed pending a court hearing.
