Ask a Historian: In conversation with Greg Jenner

December 8 @ 7:30 pm GMT

A roller coaster ride through history revealing the best facts, figures, stories and characters from ancient times to today. Join author, BBC podcaster and public historian, Greg Jenner, in conversation as he provides answers to things you always wondered about, but didn’t know who to ask.

Responding to 50 genuine questions from the public, Greg whisks you off on a tour through the ages, revealing the best and most surprising stories, facts, and historical characters from the past. Bouncing through a wide range of subjects – from ancient jokebooks, African empires, and bizarre tales of medicinal cannibalism, to the invention of meringues, mirrors, and menstrual pads – Ask A Historian spans the Stone Age to the Swinging Sixties, and offers up an amusing and informative smorgasbord of historical curiosities, devoured one morsel at a time.

Greg Jenner is a public historian best known as the host of the hit BBC podcasts You’re Dead To Me and Homeschool History, his work on BBC’s multi-award winning TV series Horrible Histories, and for his books Dead Famous: An Unexpected History of Celebrity, From Bronze Age To Silver Screen and A Million Years In A Day: A Curious History of Everyday Life From The Stone Age To The Phone Age. He is an Honorary Research Associate at Royal Holloway, University of London.

What’s Online is a series of talks and events delivered by The National Archives’ experts and special guests. Talks last approximately 30-40 minutes, followed by a 15 minute Q&A.

This online talk will be presented on Microsoft Teams.
