Apple Day on Saturday 5 September offers the people of Chiswick the opportunity to help turn this year’s harvest into juice – a free and fun activity, with free fresh juice at the end of it.

Abundance London have been collecting Chiswick’s apples since its inception 15 years ago, involving schools in the harvesting and making sure surplus fruit does not go to waste.

If you fancy having a go at using an apple press, as you might have done in the Middle Ages, and the scratter, which is state of the art, the juice-making stand will be in action. From 1pm – 3pm, outside Chiswick Library, you can join in feeding the apple scratter.

As well as all that excitement, organisers Abundance London say there will be many other activities on offer to get stuck into. From apple bobbing to painting ‘insect pebbles’, there will be a lot on offer.

Prizes for the longest apple peel will be up for grabs – so start practising your peeling.

The Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Ranjit Gill, will be attending at 2pm to see everything Apple Day has to offer.
