Free Online Talk – Flappers, flights and freedom: a social history of the 1920s

January 26 @ 7:30 pm GMT

A decade of conflict, creation and change – historian Professor Kate Williams brings to life the fascinating world of the 1920s.

From strikes and suffrage to innovations in science and arts and culture, the 1920s saw Britain leap forward in some areas but crumble in others.

Fuelled by an epic generational battle as the young tried to throw Edwardian values away for good, the decade stood as an incredible period of social change. For some it was one long party, for others it brought post-war suffering, and eventually The Wall Street Crash brought it all grinding to a halt. One thing we can be sure of, after the 20s, nothing was ever the same again.

Discover the reality of this turbulent decade in this fascinating talk with Kate Williams.
