Dr Jonathan Oates takes a look the times extreme weather have wreaked havoc in the Borough.
In both 1954 and 1987 parts of the locality were hit by devastating storms. That of October 1987 is perhaps well known. The tornado that damaged part of Acton in 1954 is more distant and known to few. This talk examines the damage to property and to trees on these two different, yet similar, occasions, and how people responded to these times of crisis.
See how both these events compare with the recent devastation caused by Storm Eunice in February 2022.
