Internationally acclaimed singer Barb Jungr presents the music of Bob Dylan in her own inimitable style
Barb has wowed audiences and critics worldwide with her powerful reinterpretations of Bob Dylan’s work. Known for her passionate singing, minimal and subtle arrangements and great humour and variously described by critics as ‘magnificent, mesmerising and magical’, she has built a formidable reputation as an international live performer.
“The uncategorisable British singer has a knack of uncovering fresh depths in Dylan …..Barb weighs every syllable…. she knows this material inside out ……” Clive Davies – The Times.
Barb has perfected the art of interpretation to such a level that audiences are often astonished to discover that well-known songs they thought they knew have been wonderfully transformed and very often elevated as she weaves her magic musical spell.
Barb Jungr’s first album of Dylan’s songs is a cult classic, winning her a dedicated fan base around the world, followed up by a series of sell-out, award-winning transatlantic shows. The Wall Street Journal called the album “the most significant vocal album of the 21st century thus far.” At its original release in 2013 the album was listed in the Sunday Times and The Telegraph’s Top Ten Jazz Albums Of The Year.
Barb Jungr’s increasingly rare live performances are unmissable, and together with the noted pianist Jenny Carr (Claire Martin, Beverley Craven) this special show will include such gems as Tangled Up In Blue, Love Is Just A Four Letter Word, Sara, If You Gotta Go, Go Now, If Not For You, Forgetful Heart, and Man In The Long Black Coat.
“Her instrument is shockingly expressive with an astonishing array of colours, and that’s before she gets down to the business of interpretation. I just hope that Dylan himself has a listen and starts writing for her direct …..!” said the Observer’s David Benedict’.
