Thursday 13 January in the Boston Room at George IV – The Jo Harrop Trio Tribute To Ella Fitzgerald. This special showcase tribute to the music of the ‘Queen Of Jazz’ the wonderful Ella Fitzgerald, features the rapidly rising star of jazz vocals Jo Harrop, together with the acclaimed pianist Alex Hutton and the noted double bassist Jihad Darwish.
Influenced by the horn playing of the greatest saxophonists Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker, Ella’s musical language resonated especially with the Bebop movement who adopted her as one of their own. Her remarkable career spanned across 60 years with her repertoire encompassing the entire spectrum of the American Songbook.
The First Lady Of Song was always noted for her purity of tone, perfect timing, impeccable intonation and improvisational ability and Jo Harrop captures the mood superbly in this special show. Watch out for some familiar classics such as A Foggy Day, Love For Sale Tenderly, Just One Of Those Things, Get Out Of Town, I Love Paris and What A Little Moonlight amongst others.
£12 (£10 for Chiswick Club Card Holders) plus Eventbrite booking fee.
