The Will Johns, Dan Burnett Duo – Bank Holiday Blues Special
One of the most distinctive and exciting contemporary blues performers in the world today. Will John’s family tree reads like a Who’s Who of the British blues scene including uncles Eric Clapton, Mick Fleetwood, George Harrison and Glyn Johns.
A hugely respected songwriter and performer, Will has five well received albums to his name whilst being nominated for ‘Best Original Blues Song’ by the British Blues Awards for three consecutive years. His latest album, Bluesdaddy is a lovingly chosen collection of 11 authentic, raw sounding blues classics along with one original, the title track. As Will explains:
“In the blues world it is natural for an artist to play the standards. Here I’ve taken classic songs that everyone knows and loves and put my own stamp on everything.”
Whilst paying homage to blues greats from BB King and Robert Johnson to Peter Green and Ry Cooder, Will’s sound as one that is both cutting-edge and steeped in the history of the blues.
Will Johns has performed at Blues On The Farm, Birmingham Jazz & Blues, the Rainbow Festival and the Cambridge Rock Festival as well as playing alongside the likes of Eric Clapton, Ronnie Wood and Jack Bruce.
For this special show Will is joined by the award-nominated singer, songwriter and acclaimed keyboard player Dan Burnett whose eclectic influences span the soul, acoustic and blues genres.
