The Phil Brown Swingtet will be playing at The Duck and Ball, Riverside Drive, on the Third Thursday of the month.

This six-piece band plays virtually every style of jazz from traditional, mainstream, and modern – from Armstrong to Basie. Apart from the hugely experienced Phil on trombone, his son Lester plays trumpet and flugelhorn, Mark Aston is on clarinet, alto, tenor and baritone sax, Mike Bennett is on double bass and brothers Andrew and David Clancy are on piano/keyboard and drums respectively.

Whatever style of jazz you like, it will be an entertaining evening at this excellent local venue. Regular guests include jazz vocalists Diane Slater, Teresa Jennings, Stephan O’Goodson, Isabel Saunders and very occasionally Tim Wacher, trumpeters Chris Hodgkins and Anthony Cox, Pete Clancy (Andrew and David’s dad) on trombone, Steve Clancy on clarinet (the third brother), Dave Alison on baritone sax and many others.
