Try your hand at this printmaking technique with the printing press at Hogarth’s House
Unusually for the time, Hogarth made many of his own prints. Learn more about printing and the processes that went into making the prints you see on display in the House. Each workshop will cover Hogarth as a printmaker, the blind embossing and debossing techniques and a hands-on opportunity to print one of your own unique designs with the intaglio printing press.
Blind embossing and debossing involves no ink, but is no less stunning. Using shapes and lines, each participant can create and take home both their plate and embossed/debossed design.
No previous printmaking experience needed.
Participants must be aged 16+
Limited to 10 spaces
Hogarth’s House in Chiswick is the former home of the 18th century artist and satirist William Hogarth. It is owned and managed by the London Borough of Hounslow.
