Flywheel Theatre Company brings a revival of weekly repertory to Riverside Studios. Five actors, five plays, five weeks. One ensemble performs five full classical productions, a week each, striking one set on the Saturday night and opening the next play on the Tuesday. It is the format British theatre effectively abandoned in the 1970s, and almost nobody has attempted it at this scale since.

The five plays are all drawn from Riverside’s own fifty-year history, in the building’s anniversary year: The Cherry Orchard (Chekhov), The School for Wives (Molière), Phaedra (Racine), Measure for Measure (Shakespeare) and The Virtuous Burglar (Dario Fo, in his centenary year). The season opens with The Cherry Orchard.
