The music of Duke Ellington has been inspiring singer Sarah Moule and pianist Simon Wallace ever since they both discovered jazz.
Together they celebrate the genius of ‘The Duke’ and his right-hand man, Billy Strayhorn, two of the most respected and prolific song writers of the jazz era.
Numbers such as Lotus Blossom, It Don’t Mean A Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing, Mood Indigo, I Got It Bad & That Ain’t Good, Do Nothin’ Til You Hear From Me and Take The A Train show why the Ellington Orchestra’s music has been described as one of the most important contributions to American culture.
Between songs in this upbeat and swinging show, the highly respected jazz vocalist Sarah Moule and the much acclaimed pianist Simon Wallace look at the often enigmatic and always complex man behind the music, the remarkable Duke Ellington. ‘Long established as one of the best jazz singers in the UK, Sarah Moule is a master at bringing out the heart of a song……..’
