Discovering Tyburnia – Not the sort of place you would want to hang about in in the past unless you were into executions…
Meet at Al Bustan, a Lebanese family restaurant for a chill, chat and a snack before a walk through the attractive area called Connaught Village, part of Hyde Park Estate in Tyburnia. The area called Tyburnia is remembered for the infamous gallows, an execution place near where Marble Arch is now.
On your walk you will hear about a great ballet dancer who wore a prototype of a tutu, an opera singer second only to Carusso, an atheist female writer from a family of missionaries in South Africa, a talented painter who took his own life and more.
