Murmuration Studios presents Mike Bartlett’s An Intervention by arrangement with Nick Hern Books
Mike Bartlett’s stirring play provocatively questions our responsibilities as friends and citizens who sometimes let each other down.
A playful and touching two-hander with a mischievous, crafty look at friendship in its many forms.
One of them went on the anti-war protest, shouted their lungs out, then got horrendously and staggeringly drunk. The other stayed home, watched TV for a bit, and thought about the future.
A & B are very different and their relationship is no longer quite as united as it once was. Things fracture when A goes on a march to protest against the government’s military intervention in another country, while B supports the war.
This dynamic play also touches on substance abuse, lack of mental health access, and the ever-present divisiveness of politics & policies, even among the best of friends.
Against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, An Intervention is a necessary conduit for navigating our way and making sense of our lives.
10% of box office earnings for this amateur production will go toward global conflict relief efforts.
