Chiswick Opera Talks take place every Thursday afternoon at Chiswick Memorial Club. This week’s talk is on Verdi’s “Nabucco”.

Power, passion, rebellion and unforgettable music.

Verdi’s Nabucco is a thrilling early masterpiece, packed with dramatic confrontations, soaring arias and stirring choruses. Set against the epic struggle between the Babylonians and the people of Jerusalem, it tells a tale of ambition, love, jealousy and faith – with the famous chorus of the captive Hebrew slaves “Va, pensiero” at its heart. From the opening bars to its triumphant conclusion, Nabucco is Verdi at his most dramatic, melodic and irresistibly theatrical.
