Indigo dye as the ancient natural dye method has been practice for thousands of years. The Bai ethnic minority in Yunnan, China has a traditional textile technique that combines indigo dye with stitch resist shibori, which uses the stitch to create areas that resist the indigo dye. As a result, patterns are created that reference and are inspired by the nature in Southwestern China.
Join Yiran Duran to learn four different stitches and experiment with the magic of indigo dye. During the workshop, you will create your own design on a tote bag or a square cotton scarf that goes home with you!
All materials are provided.
