Family club ‘Olive’s House’ gets planning approval for Bedford Park

OurHouse, the family membership club chain, has been granted planning permission to open ‘Olive’s House’ in the former Mulliner House office building on Flanders Road, Bedford Park, several months after first applying to Hounslow Council in March.

The approval is part of a wider OurHouse expansion. The company has also secured planning permission for a second new London club, ‘Leo’s House’, in a former industrial building on Voltaire Road, Clapham.

Both are due to open in 2027, alongside a third club, ‘Orly’s House’, already planned for East Sheen. OurHouse says each of the two newly approved sites could create up to 130 local jobs.

Olive’s House is expected to include a rooftop restaurant and bar, pool, sauna, gym, library and co-working space, along with dens, arcades and soft play for children, and a crèche offering up to three hours of daily childcare.

Nick Crosthwaite, the company’s chief executive, said OurHouse aims ‘to give older buildings a new future while respecting their history and character’. Restoring the buildings, he said, would create places that ‘families can rely on and communities can be proud of’.

The expansion is backed by investment from real estate funds managed by Blackstone.

When the Chiswick application was first submitted, some residents raised concerns on social media about increased traffic from school-run style drop-offs, and about the loss of one of the few places in the centre of Chiswick where parking is free on Saturdays.
