Great British Food Festival – competition winners

Last week we announced we had ten pairs of tickets to give away for the Great British Food Festival, which returns to the gardens of Chiswick House on Friday 12 – Sunday 14 July.

The question we asked was: ‘Who invented Spotted Dick?’ of perhaps more accurately ‘Who first mentioned it in a cook book?’ (as to be fair, who knows if they nicked the recipe and the name from their servant’s great aunt’s next door neighbour?!). The answer was: Alexis Soyer in his book The modern Housewife or ménagère, published in 1849.

The first ten people to send us the right answer were:

  1. Julie Quinn
  2. Maureen Makhoul
  3. Adam Ouammou
  4. Evie Weavers
  5. Davina Stevenson
  6. Jamie Sykes
  7. Suzanna Thomas
  8. Sharon Rose
  9. Yenny Harris
  10. Heather Adams
