Norris deemed unfit to stand trial due to his mental state

A jury at the Old Bailey has concluded that Norris Henry was the person who fatally stabbed a former student and attempted to kill an elderly woman in Brentford in 2021.

The judge asked the jury to determine the facts of the case as the defendant was deemed unfit to stand trial.

Norris Henry, 38, of Brook Road South, was identified as the person who stabbed the victims on Albany Road in November 2021.

Henry attacked the pair without any provocation, and it happened on the day he was due to receive a mental health assessment.

He was found to be suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, and no guilty or not guilty verdict was required in his case.

Accused suffered delusions that people around him wished him harm

Henry appeared at the hearing via video-link from a psychiatric hospital, while the victims’ families attended in person.

Henry initially approached 82-year-old, Elizabeth Walsh, known as Betty, who is well known in Brentford. He stabbed her with a 25cm knife and then as Ali approached, he said, “you want it as well?”, and stabbed him in the chest. Betty has since recovered from her physical injuries but Ali was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ali had just left a coaching session at Chiswick School sports hall, where he volunteered with the Chiswick Gators basketball team, and was a student at Kingston University.

The prosecution argued that Henry was the only one who could have carried out the attacks and suffered from delusions that people around him wished him harm.

Henry is set to be sentenced on 2 May.
