Liberal Democrat Councillors volunteer at Ealing Soup Kitchen

Some of Ealing’s Liberal Democrat councillors, including Chiswick Southfield ward councillor Gary Malcolm, helped out at the Ealing Soup Kitchen on Friday.

Ealing Soup Kitchen is a charity that provides anyone who needs hot, nutritious food and a helping hand including those who are homeless, vulnerable, and impoverished.

They run Monday & Friday drop-ins where they provide clothes, food, a barber, showers, foot care, practical help and games such as chess.

Councillors Jon Ball, Jonathan Oxley, Gary Malcolm and Athena Zissimos pitched in to help in a range of roles including food prep, setting up, cooking, serving clients, cleaning and clearing up after the clients had left.

Gary, who is Leader of the Opposition on Ealing Council, said:

“Liberal Democrats wanted to see more about the good work they do to help those who need a hot meal by volunteering for a day.

“Ealing Soup Kitchen offer many services to not just feed the clients but offer company, chat and other services to help them feel better. Many of those the Soup Kitchen have helped have gone on to have much better lives.

“The Liberal Democrats applaud the volunteers who work there week in, week out”.

Gary and his two fellow councillors in Southfield ward, Andrew Steed and Gary Busuttil, have been re-selected to stand as candidates in next year’s local elections.
