Preparation for next stage towards introducing step-free access at Kew Bridge rail station

Lionel Road South will be closed for two weeks for engineers to drill a borehole as part of the feasibility work in preparation for improving passenger access to Kew Bridge rail station.

The road will be closed between Galleria House and Marsden House from 06.00 am on Monday 27 July until 5.00 pm on Friday 7 August 2026.

Kew Bridge was one of 23 stations across the country selected to receive funding to progress to the detailed design stage of accessibility improvements as part of the Government’s Access for All announcement in January 2026.

Network Rail is working with contractor Octavius to develop proposals that will make the station more accessible for all passengers. As part of this work, they need to investigate the ground conditions in the vicinity of the station.

Traffic will be diverted via Chiswick High Rd and Great West Road A4. The cycle lane will be closed, so cyclists are asked to dismount and use the footway. Brentford Football Club’s Stadium Souvenir shop and residents’ access to underground car parking will be unaffected.
