The local elections take place on Thursday 7 May. These are the Conservative candidates standing in Chiswick Riverside ward, as they describe themselves.

Gabriella Giles

Gabriella Giles

Gabriella is a Chiswickian born and raised, although her roots are extremely international, with parents from Ireland and El Salvador, and working in international environments for the past 12 years.

Having lived in Wales, Scotland and England, this adds to her credentials as being a modern Brit, who is still extremely proud of the village in which she was raised, now chooses to call home, and is extremely honoured to represent.

With a background in project, change management and sharing best practice, Gabriella has used these professional skills in her role as a representative of the people of Riverside. She is currently the Conservative Group spokesperson on the environment, and has repeatedly proposed motions and questions on this topic to hold the London Borough of Hounslow to account on their intentions.

As a member of the Executive Review Board of the Thames Landscape Strategy and a Trustee of the Chiswick Pier Trust, Gabriella has been lobbying Hounslow Council to recognise the environmental benefit that being on the river has to the wellbeing of its residents. An extremely active cyclist, she has written about her experiences trialling the Brompton e-bike for Westrans and has contributed to the Hounslow Conservative Policy on Cycling and Walking.

As a proud Chiswickian, she wrote the Cultural Compendium of Chiswick in 2019 to support London Borough of Hounslow’s bid to become a borough of culture. A keen photographer, she can often be seen camera in hand taking photos around the ward. Her prize-winning photos of Chiswick House and Grounds can be found marking February in the 2021 Chiswick Buzz Calendar.

Most recently, her attention has been focused on the South Chiswick Liveable Neighbourhood, liaising with council officers to ensure the communications and project management of this enormous project is clear and fair for all concerned. This is still ongoing.

Peter Thompson

Peter Thompson

For over 20 years, Peter Thompson has worked hard for Chiswick residents, protecting local services and helping to keep Chiswick a great place to live.

A former Leader of Hounslow Council and current Leader of the Conservative Group, Peter brings deep experience, proven leadership, and a strong record of delivering for local people. He is known for combining serious council experience with a practical, no-nonsense focus on the local issues that matter most to residents.

Peter grew up in Sheffield and studied Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Manchester. He moved to London to train as a teacher at St Mary’s College, Strawberry Hill. After teaching in several London schools, he now works as a senior leader in a state secondary school, reflecting his long-standing commitment to education and opportunities for young people.

First elected in 1998, Peter served as Leader of Hounslow Council from 2006 to 2010. During that time, he delivered major savings, reduced bureaucracy, and froze council tax for four years while protecting frontline services. He also represented Hounslow on London-wide bodies focused on transport, economic development, and public services.

Re-elected in 2022 to represent Chiswick Riverside, Peter continues to focus on the local issues that matter most. He has led efforts to reopen Chiswick Post Office, worked closely with residents and local groups on planning and development concerns, opposed unsuitable development, pushed for cleaner streets and better road repairs, and campaigned for practical improvements to the South Chiswick LTN.

Peter lives in the ward, so he understands first-hand the local issues residents face and the importance of protecting Chiswick’s services, streets, and community spirit. His children attended local Hounslow schools, and he is actively involved in community life through his church and as leader of the 20th Chiswick Cub Scout Pack.

 Jessica is standing to represent Chiswick Riverside Ward because she believes we can build a fairer, more inclusive community – one where every resident feels heard, valued, and empowered.

As an active member of our borough, she is fully committed to serving the people of Chiswick Riverside with dedication, integrity, and energy.

Jessica’s priorities are clear: supporting families, championing our local businesses, tackling inequality, improving public services and street safety, investing in young people, and fighting for genuinely affordable housing.

Real change begins with listening. She is committed to turning residents’ concerns into meaningful action and practical solutions.

Professionally, Jessica brings strong experience in eCommerce trading and retail mostly in the Fashion Industry. Skills that demand accountability, strategic thinking, and results. Beyond her professional work, her grassroots involvement reflects who she is.

At her local Church, Jessica serves on the Prayer Ministry, Welcoming Team, and Church Band, supports the Alpha Course, and mentors women recovering from toxic relationships. She also helps to organise neighbourhood social events that create safe, welcoming spaces where people can connect and build community.

Service, community, and action are at the heart of everything Jessica does She is determined to work tirelessly for Chiswick Riverside. Campaigning on the doorstep, addressing local concerns, and being a visible, responsive, and effective representative who truly listens and delivers.
