Jean de la Fontaine – Lecture in French by Thierry Viennois at the Cercle Français

Friday 19 February 2021 at 7.00pm

Thierry examines some of the French character traits which La Fontaine portrays in his fables and the messages to be learned from them.

Most French children will be familiar with the fables of Jean de la Fontaine who often used animals to portray what we would consider as universal human behaviour, while at the same time offering lessons in morality. His talent for storytelling made the fables both memorable and captivating, so much so that many of his expressions have now become integrated into our everyday language.

Thierry Viennois is a popular and entertaining speaker, who is a regular contributor to the French Circle of Chiswick. He has a PGCE in Higher Education, a Master’s in Applied Foreign Languages and is an educational writer, examiner, translator and teacher of French as a foreign language to adults.

Tickets: £5 for 1 person or more living at the same address and are available from Cercle Français – see Link below
