Lockdown Theatre Festival

A selection of stage shows will be available to enjoy this weekend.

Starting on 13 June, 4 plays that had their scheduled runs cut short by the coronavirus, will be aired on BBC Radio 3 & 4.

Mike Bartlett’s Love, Love, Love, directed by Rachel O’Riordan and based out of Hammersmith’s Lyric theatre, is just of the shows available over the weekend.

The idea was thought up by actor Bertie Carvel, in response to nationwide theatre closures.

“I want to create a cultural snapshot for posterity, because who knows what the future holds? Theatres up and down the country are facing an existential crisis. If I can find a way, every single production that has been forced off the stage because of the lockdown will find a new platform at this festival” he said.
