Online comedy club is ‘Just the Tonic’ for lockdown blues

‘Just the Tonic’ comedy club are offering a series of ticketed events to stream.

Available from 27 June at 8.00pm, it features comedians that are usually booked for stand up, now exploring completely different aspects of comedy, as they try to get to grips with the new world order.

This event features Russell Kane, Henning Wehn,  Matt Forde, Matthew Horne Tom Binns and Naomi Cooper.

‘I’ve sat back and tried to work out what elements of comedy can work without the format offered by a live gig, but that can be achieved online” said Darrell Martin, the host of the show.

“So, we chop the show up a little. Sketches, bits of chat, bits of stand up, bits of stand up discussed as chats / phone calls / sketches. We have a number of repeating characters, including Matthew Horne as Paul Human: Patron to the Arts. It is just a lot of silliness, put together from my spare room. Do not expect Live at The Apollo (personally, I prefer it)”.

Ticket prices are based on a “pay how you feel” basis, with the option to pay more after the show has finished, with prices starting at £5.50 and capping at £20.

Only one ticket per household is needed, meaning the whole family can join in at an affordable price.

“Last time people were buying per person in the room, which is very honest but not necessary… we can’t see you and count heads” said Martin.
