St Michael’s auction fundraiser

9 November 2020, by Matt Smith

St Michael’s church will be holding an auction to raise money to support their finances, which have been severely impacted by Covid-19.

The auction is ongoing and will end on 23 November.

Christmas puddings, a week-long stay in an 8 person flat in Switzerland and some jewellery are just some of the lots which are included in the auction.

They are also separately selling signed copies of ‘Elevations of Grove Park 2’ by local architect Pierre Fowell.

The church was unable to hold services during the first lockdown, which meant no income from the collection plate. They also lost a term’s rental income from the Montessori School and many of the groups who use its function centre (such as Chiswick Choir and St Michael’s Players) have stopped meeting. People have also stopped booking it for children’s parties.

‘We’ve continued to be available for the community’ said Linda Woods, a spokesperson for St. Michael’s.

‘Many of our activities have moved online which, in itself has meant additional costs to the church such as extra staff hours and the purchase of a/v equipment’ she said.
