Man appears in court accused of fatally stabbing woman and injuring her daughter in Askew Rd attack

Court heard 48-year-old man fatally stabbed Samantha Turner 70 times and injured her daughter as she tried to stop ‘murderous attack’

Alan Dore, 48, appeared at the Old Bailey on Monday, charged with murder and attempted murder.

Dore was accused of killing Samantha Turner, 52, in her home on Askew Road on 18 August. He had been in a relationship with Turner for about a year and lived nearby.

When her daughter, Keeley Turner, 32, tried to stop the ‘murderous attack’, the court heard, Dore stabbed her in the abdomen and back.

Keeley Turner remains in hospital, although her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The court heard that Keeley Turner had been upstairs at the home on Askew Road when she heard her mother’s screams and went downstairs. Prosecutor Philip McGhee said that when she tried to stop the defendant, he stabbed her.

McGhee said the allegations in the case were of a ‘murderous attack’ with a knife in a ‘domestic setting’.

She called 999 at 8.19 am and told the police: ‘Hurry up man, he’s going to kill her.’

Samantha Turner was pronounced dead at the scene at 8.54 am. Dore was arrested in a bedroom of the property.

McGhee told the court a post-mortem examination identified around 70 sharp-force injuries, which were allegedly inflicted with ‘severe force’.

Judge Simon Mayo KC set a schedule for the case. There will be a plea hearing on 9 November and a provisional three-week trial from 17 May next year. Dore was remanded into custody.
