Man dies three weeks after ‘sustained serious assault’ in Essex for which Chiswick woman was arrested

Chiswick woman arrested on suspicion of serious assault

Two Essex newspapers are reporting a man has died following a ‘sustained serious assault’ in south Essex three weeks ago and that a woman from Chiswick was previously arrested in connection with the attack.

Essex Live and the Southend Echo both report emergency services were called on 12 June to London Road in Westcliff near The Cricketers pub, after reports of a woman seriously assaulting a man.

The man, in his 40s, was left with injuries to his head and chest.

‘A 46-year-old woman from Chiswick was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and controlling and coercive behaviour’.

She was released on bail while police investigations continue.

The Southend Echo reports Essex Police saying the man’s death is currently being treated as ‘unexpected’, and although an investigation is under way, ‘it is not being treated as a murder inquiry at this stage’.

Temporary Detective Inspector Steve Robson is quoted asking for the public’s help:

“We believe this was a sustained serious assault. Anyone that witnessed this or was in the area and may have footage of this could be key.

“Even the smallest piece of information or shortest dashcam clip may prove vital. If you were in London Road that weekend in June, we want to hear from you as soon as possible.”

Essex Police ask witnesses or anyone with CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from the area on June 12 to get in touch quoting investigation number 42/99897/26.
