Man who steals electric bike by Chiswick Rail Station clearly caught on camera as locals give chase
Thief who stole the electric bike from outside the Co Op by Chiswick Rail Station
Caught on camera on Burlington Lane
Two Chiswick locals gave chase when a man stole an electric bike from outside the Co Op by Chiswick Rail Station at around 3 pm on Friday (14 August).
Seeing they are filming him, the man tries to shield his face, but he is clearly visible, and they hope identifiable by the police.
“There was a young Irish girl shopping at the Co Op by the station, She saw this guy take off with her bike and she was running down the road after him barefoot, so we gave chase in the car” said the local resident, who prefers not to be named.
“She cut up her feet running after him, She said she’d spent £1,000 on it”.
He was with his son, who was filming from the passenger seat as they drove after the thief.
Video contains swearing.
They stopped twice as the man spend off down Burlington Lane to try and stop him, but the man whizzed past them.
“They’re so fast, these bikes. I don’t know how the police catch them. I’d be surprised if the police can’t identify him from this”.
They were disappointed not to have been able to stop him themselves and get the bike back for its owner, but are confident they have a clear enough image of his face for him to be identified and have reported it to the police in the hope they catch him.
